For me—Matthias Koch, owner of the Steinpalast Group—Steinpalast is more than just a company. It is the answer to a simple question that simply wouldn't let me go: Why do we throw away LEGO® bricks that still hold so much utility and value? It was precisely from this realization that the idea was born: to give LEGO® bricks a second life and continue writing their story of play.
The idea for the Steinpalast Group didn't come to me at my desk, but rather right in the midst of everyday life.
I was watching my son play and realized just how much creativity and joy is contained within those countless LEGO® bricks.
At the same time, I noticed in my own circle how often—sooner or later—these very bricks are simply cast aside or thrown away.
I asked myself why there wasn't a simple way to pass these LEGO® bricks on to others.
It became clear to me that there had to be a better way.
And that is how the idea was born: to purchase used LEGO® bricks, refurbish them, and give them a second life.
It is not about constantly creating something new, but rather about utilizing what already exists.
With Steinpalast, I aim to make exactly this possible—preserving resources instead of wasting them.
At the same time, this results in an offering that people can truly make use of.
With the Steinpalast Group, I pursue a clear mission focused on LEGO® bricks.
I aim to preserve what already exists rather than replacing it.
I aim to operate sustainably without compromising on quality.
I aim to meaningfully combine play and learning.
And I aim to create solutions that offer genuine added value for families, institutions, and businesses alike.
I am convinced that things which once brought joy can do so again and again.
I see my role as making exactly that possible—ensuring that new stories emerge from old stones.
